Ever get the feeling your friends are unreachable or just plain ignoring you*, or your phone doesn’t support SMS/text message delivery reports like the iPhone?! Well we might have a solution for you – at least if your on the O2 network in the UK, that is.
This little trick will enable you to receive a confirmation text from the O2-UK network, when the text is delivered (as pictured above). Just do the following:
Preface your text message with the text “*0#” (asterix-zero-hash)
The confirmation text you receive from O2 will give you the time and date it was delivered, and has worked with all the phones I have tested including the iPhone. The person who receives your text will just see the intended text message and not the prefaced code.
O2-UK by default has delivery reports deactivated (even if your phone supports it), but this is a known work-around. So far, my testing has shown that this only works on O2, but if you know of other ways to enable delivery reports please let us know the method, network and country in the comments below for other people to try.
*This is not an accurate gauge of popularity, the recipient could have received the text but not read it due to being busy…though at least you know they have received it!
