I’m a bit late to the party with this one, but its pretty cool so I figured I would post about it. Swype has been available as a keyboard alternative for Android phones for some time now, but only recently has development started on an iOS version for jailbroken iPhones and iPads, called iSwipe (formerly known as Swype for iOS) currently in its third beta version.
The beta 3 version of iSwipe has a lot more of the features that make the Android Swype keyboard so appealing (that weren’t present in earlier iOS releases), including the blue tracer line to show your text input, third-party app keyboard compatibility, as well as an alternate word suggestions bar that appears after finishing a word for when the word iSwipe “guesses” is not the correct one.
To try iSwipe for yourself, just perform the following (this has been amended due to a comment below highlighting a change in the repository):
- Jailbreak your iPhone (Check out Lifehacker’s awesome guide to doing that here).
- Edit your sources in Cydia and add: http://cydia.myrepospace.com/wyndwarrior (do not use the former: http://wynd.x10.mx which results in a verification error in Cydia).
- Search for Swipe (this was iSwipe) in Cydia and install it.
And that’s it! The app is free, so if you already have a jailbroken iPhone or iPad or were thinking of doing it, I would suggest giving it a try. Let us know what you think about iSwipe in the comments below!

UPDATE: Commenter Andrew E points out below that using the above instructions results in a verification error when trying to add the repository for Cydia. To correctly download Swipe (formerly iSwipe, and formerly formerly Swype) add http://cydia.myrepospace.com/wyndwarrior as a source, then search for Swipe in Cydia and install it. Please comment below if this works for you or any issues!

The swype app gives a verification error during the download process in Cydia. Due to that error I can not install it on my device. Is there any other alternative sources to try ???
It appears there is a new repo for iSwype. Please use the above instructions, but instead use:
http://cydia.myrepospace.com/wyndwarrior – and search for “swipe”.
Let me know if that works
I have amended the post to show the changes in the installation of Swipe!
